STANTON - O. V. “Van” Glaze, 91, of Stanton died Jan. 25, 2014, in a Midland hospital. Funeral service was at the Downtown Church of Christ in Stanton. Interment followed at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. He was born Jan. 22, 1923, in Rowden and married Lucille “Lucy” Varner June 7, 1942 in Lamesa. She preceded him in death Nov. 23, 2012. He lived most of his life in Martin County. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a surgical technician. He farmed in the Tarzan community many years and also owned and operated Glaco Oil and Gas in Tarzan and Stanton for many years. He was a member of the Church of Christ, where he had served as a teacher, song leader, deacon and elder. He is survived by one son, O. V. “Vanny” Glaze, Jr. and wife Mary Ann of Tarzan; two daughters, Mary Etta Oaks and husband Burton, Jr. of Flower Grove and Leatrice Adams and husband Michael of Stanton; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Vera Glaze; a daughter, Cindy Lafon Glaze; and by two brothers, H. C. Glaze and Bruce Lee Glaze.
