Carmelita Ortega, 77, died March 2, 2014, peacefully at her home in Odessa. She was born on Sept. 22, 1936, in Toyah to Francisco and Francisca Martinez. Viewing was Mar. 5 and Mar. 6 with a rosary reciting that evening at the funeral home chapel. Services will be Mar. 28 at 1 PM at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with father Miguel Officiating. Interment will follow to Sunset Memorial Gardens. She was a devoted catholic and was very deep in her faith. She was a caring and giving person. Carmelita always had people staying at her home, this truly says a lot about her faith and caring nature. Her hobby was helping others she volunteered her time at MHMR and at the Salvation Army as well. She retired from ECISD after 22 years where she worked in the school cafeteria. Most of all she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She is preceded in death by her father Francisco Martinez and her brother Frank Martinez Jr. Survivors include her husband of 56 years SalvadorOrtega; sons, Joe Ortega, Saul (Racheal) Ortega and Jonathan Marcelino all form Odessa; daughters, Anna (Jose) Marcelino of Odessa and Nancy (Marc) Briseno of Stanton; mother, Francisca Martinez of Odessa;brother, Joe (Peggy)Martinez of Odessa; sisters,Juanita Morales and Margie (Manuel) Ledesma both of Pecos
