STANTON - Funeral mass for Martin “Tino” Gonzales Jr. were July 12, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Tim Schwertner officiating, interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Martin (Tino) Gonzales Jr. died peacefully surrounded by family on July 10, 2014. He was 92 years old. He was born May 3, 1922, to the late Martin and Eduarda Gonzales. He was born in Fort Stockton and attended Courtney and Lomax schools. He was a veteran and served in the US Army during the WWII in the Pacific. He was married to the late Elisa Gonzales (Hernandez) in 1942; they were married for 17 years. After her death he later married Estella Gonzales (Cuellar) in 1988; they were married for 17 years. He had three children, Dora Gonzales (Ralph), Louis M. Gonzales (Barbara) and Mary Helen Metts (David). He had five grandchildren, Marcie, Marc, Anthony, Louie, and Elisa. He had numerous great grandchildren. He was a farmer most of his life and helped manage the Stanton Chemical and Seed Store for over 20 years. He truly enjoyed farming and was blessed to be able to do this most of his life. The last years of his life he was still tending to his yard and doing whatever he could outdoors. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Hospice of Midland. The staff and family of Stanton Memorial Funeral Home and Chapel was in charge of aggrangments.
