Water problems to the north worse than first thought

PANHANDLE - The area just to the north of Martin County has bigger water problems that was originally thought - and this is all before the expanding oilfield starts with its water demands. The chief underground water source for irrigating the agriculture-rich Panhandle is depleting at a pace that some fear will exhaust it far more quickly than anticipated.
