Robert R. “Bob” Hunt

BIG SPRING - Robert R. “Bob” Hunt, 81 of Big Spring, died Sept. 13, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services were Sept. 16, at the Ackerly Church of Christ with Gaylon Lamb, officiating. Interment followed at the Ackerly Cemetery. He was born Oct. 4, 1932, in Lamesa and married Janie Dale Oct, 18, 1952, in Tucumcari, N M. He was raised in Lamesa, moving to Lovington, NM, graduating from high school there. He received basketball scholarships to both Durango Junior College and New Mexico A & M. He moved to the Ackerly community in 1953 where he was a lifelong farmer. He served on the Ackerly Co-Op Gin Board for many years. He particularly enjoyed taking the kids to the lake and fishing. He was an active member of the Ackerly Church of Christ where he served as an elder for many years. Survivors include his wife, Janie Hunt of Big Spring; three daughters, Carla Peugh of Stanton, Jill Tubb and husband Richie of Big Spring and Kaye Glaeser and husband Gene of Marble Falls; one son, Robert Coleman Hunt of Ackerly; one sister, Tommie Mayes of The Woodlands; 11 grandchildren, Cody Peugh and wife Shanna of Stanton, Brady Peugh and wife Ginger, Meghan Hunt and Bo Hunt all of Midland, Angela Crowley and husband Webster of Charlottesville, VA, Brian Tubb and wife Brenda, Tandi Stockton and husband Richard and Hali Petrowski and husband Justin all of Big Spring, Amber Maenius and husband Brandon of Flower Mound, Jordan Glaeser of Dallas, Hanna Bullard and husband Cody of Post and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Coleman and Beulah Gautney Hunt; three sisters, Robbie Jean Sheridan, Donna Boldin and Mary Bagley; and a son-in-law, Johnny Peugh. The family suggests memorials to the New Mexico Children’s Home, 1356 New Mexico 236, Portales, New Mexico 88130 or to the Texas Kidney Foundation, 1525 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, Texas 75325.
