Dwindling water supply prompts April 19 meeting

BIG SPRING – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Howard County will conduct a groundwater roundtable that is open to the public from 1-4 p.m. April 19 in the G.C. Broughton Jr. Ag Complex at Howard College, 2411 Echols Drive in Big Spring. “The problem prompting this roundtable discussion, and it’s a huge one, is we are running out of water,” said Tommy Yeater, AgriLife Extension agent in Howard County. “Our groundwater supply is becoming so depleted that we soon won’t have enough for sustained municipal use, let alone for supporting our extensive cotton crop.”
