Craig Ferguson Brooks

ABILENE - Craig Ferguson Brooks, 43 of Abilene and formerly of Avoca, died Nov. 4, 2016. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. November 11at Avoca Baptist Church with Pastor Les Mims officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Creek Cemetery under the direction of Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home. He was born Oct. 9, 1973, in Roswell, NM, the son of William and Wilma (McBride) Brooks. He graduated from Stanton High School in 1992 and later took college courses in phlebotomy. He married Chelan Cook on Nov. 2, 1998, in Midland. They moved to Avoca where he served as the youth minister for Avoca Baptist Church and recently moved to Abilene. He loved spending time with the youth, loved Jesus, telling stories and making people laugh. He also liked to fish, and always enjoyed a good steak and good food. He was employed by American Electric Power as a line supervisor. He was a member of Avoca Baptist Church. His mother, Wilma Brooks, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Chelan Brooks of Abilene; children, Megan Brooks of Illinois, Marshall Brooks, Ashli Brooks, both of Abilene; his father, William Brooks of Stanton; a sister, Shelly Ramirez and husband Eusebio of Stanton; a brother, Scott Brooks and wife Paula of Stanton; father in law and mother in law, Lupe and Rachel DeLeon of Midland; three sisters in law, Becki Pena and husband Billy, Crystal Gasser and husband Greg, Valeri Delamora and husband Jesus; one brother in law, Michael DeLeon; and numerous other family and friends.
