BIG SPRING - Rosalia Barraza, 97 of Big Spring died Jan. 1, 2017, in a local hospital.

Services was Jan. 5 at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring. Interment followed at Trinity Memorial Park.

She was born Aug. 13, 1919, in La Union, N.M. and married Marcelo Barraza Nov. 2, 1936, in Ackerly, where they made their home. She was a homemaker and also helped on the farm.

He preceded her in death Jan. 16, 1999. Mrs. Barraza enjoyed all kinds of arts and crafts and was known for her contagious smile.

She is survived by two sons, Joaquin Barraza and wife Mary of Ackerly, and Eduardo Barraza and wife Barbara of Tula Rosa, N.M.; four daughters, Celia Rehm of Jacksonville, Fla., Ofelia Estes and husband Kenneth of Bovina, and Elia Cowley of Big Spring; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Barraza; one daughter, Delia Lopez; her parents, Marcelino and Josefa (Uribe) Acosta; two brothers; and four sisters.
