BIG SPRING - Hazel Shockley, 96 of Big Spring, died June 20, 2017, in a local nursing home. Funeral services were June 22 at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment followed at Trinity Memorial Park. She was born Sept. 17, 1920, in Runnels County, to Lem M. and Ida Mae Roberts. She married J.B. Shockley Jan. 6, 1939, in Stanton. He preceded her in death April 1, 1995. The couple farmed in the Knott Community many years. She was a homemaker and loved to cook, and was known for her homemade cinnamon rolls. She also loved dogs and cats, and enjoyed sewing and embroidery. She was a member of the Knott Church of Christ. Survivors included a sister, Evelyn Holcomb; an adopted daughter, Zulema "Sue" Casas; four adopted grandchildren, John Casas and wife Karissa, Lee Casas and wife Shelly, Jesus Casas and wife Carol, and Jerry Casas; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Beverly Ann Shockley; an adopted son, Junior Casas; and three sisters, Zada Lee Roberts, Ruby Faye Lewis, and Lilly Mae Roberts. Arrangements were under the direction of Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home and Crematory.
