SHERMAN - Lynda Mercer Hagan Harbold, 77, died July 15, 2017, after a valiant struggle with cancer. She was born to Emmett and Mae Mercer on Dec. 27, 1939, in Owensboro, Kentucky and moved to Texas in 1969. She loved to travel. She and her beloved husband Edward Harbold were full time RVers and were blessed to travel to many parts of the world; she said Alaska was her favorite place. She loved to camp and enjoyed many camping trips with her sisters and their families and with her children. She cherished spending time with her family. She spent most of her professional life working for Farmers Home Administration and Alpha Management. She was a willing volunteer and she and Ed were long time volunteers at CARE, an assisted living facility for full time RVers. She enjoyed taking care of others. She is survived by her husband, Edward Harbold of Sherman, her children Denny (Kathleen) Hagan of Sherman, Dyan Hale of Stanton, Dwayne (Lauren) Hagan of Sherman, Darren (Cheryl) Hagan of Bonham, Mike (Michelle) Harbold of Downington, PA, Marc (Dalila) Watts of Toulouse, France, Joanne Sarchet of Denton, her sisters Marty (Jimmy) Johnson of Whitesville, KY, and Susie (Stephanie) Batman of Floyds Knob, IN, 24 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-son Pat Harbold, sister Lois Coomes, brothers Clifton Eugene Mercer, Joe Mercer, and Larry Mercer. Funeral services were July 18, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Denison. The Very Rev. Donald Perschall officiated. After cremation, her remains will be interred at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
