TARZAN - Chris Hambleton, 70 of Tarzan died Apr. 5, 2018, in a Lubbock hospital. Funeral services were Apr. 9, at the First Baptist Church Tarzan. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery. He was born Oct. 8, 1947, in Corsicana, and married Sue Arterbury Dec. 10, 1976 in Fritch. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Springfield during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1971. He graduated from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque with a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He later received his Professional Engineering license so he could do consulting work. Chris worked for Phillips Petroleum for four years and for Mobil Oil Company for 20 years, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed gardening. Survivors include his wife, Sue Hambleton of Tarzan; one son, Philip Hambleton of Stanton; one daughter, Kristyn Sanders and husband, Steven of Tarzan; and four grandchildren, Charlie Sanders, Nathan Sanders, Wolfgang Sanders and Willow Sanders. He was preceded in death by James and Francys Hambleton; and a sister, Stephanie Hambleton. The family suggests memorials to the donor’s favorite charity.
