MIDLAND - Linda Padilla died peacefully surrounded by her family on June 4, 2018. She was born in Beaumont on Dec. 11, 1929, to Rumalda Rodriguez and Raymundo Flores. At an early age she moved with her mother to Monterrey, Mexico. She attended school, lived at a convent and attended a finishing school in Monterrey. She later moved to Big Spring where she met and married Jose Gonzales Padilla. They lived in Big Spring, Stanton, and Midland. They were blessed with ten children. She lived to care for her husband and children. Though small in stature she reared her children with a firm hand and immeasurable love. She was a devout Catholic, a member of Our Lady of Parish and Shrine. She and her husband were founding members of the Cursillista Movement. She was a member of the Guadalupanas, Lay Ministry and the choir. She loved music, singing and dancing. Her first love was always Jesus Christ and she had a profound love for His Blessed Mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose G. Padilla; her son Richard Padilla; and her infant daughter Cynthia Padilla. She is survived by her three sons; Joe Padilla and wife Terri; Lupe Padilla and wife Elvia; James Padilla and five daughters; Janie Bernard, Martha Ramirez, Linda Bernal and husband Silver; Nelda Slayter and husband James and Yvette Gonzales and husband Charles. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Rosary was at Heavenly Gate Funeral Home on June 6. Funeral mass was at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish and Shrine on June 7 p.m. Burial followed at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Big Spring. Her grandsons carried her to her final resting place.
