Petitions are now certified; wet/dry election to be called

STANTON - It didn’t take long for petitions to be completed and now certified - and the next step is to take the petitions to the Stanton City Council on Aug. 13 for an election to be called that could change the Martin County seat’s alcohol laws. Martin County - and Stanton - remain some of the last holdouts in the state when it comes to wet/dry decisions.

Once Lubbock went wet a few years back, cities, towns and counties all over the South Plains and West Texas followed suit. Andrews, Lamesa, Tahoka, Seminole - all experienced elections that have without fail gone wet.
