STANTON - Cruz M. Sanchez, 89 of Stanton, died July 5, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 3, 1929, in San Antonio del Bravo Mexico to the late Felix and Luz Martinez. She married Ernie Sanchez on Dec. 14, 1946 in Stanton. She was a cook for the Martin County Hospital for several years. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Presi dent of the Legion of Mary, a Cursillista and a Liaison for Stanton ISD. She is preceded in death by her son, Jesus Sanchez; her sisters, Crispina Ornelas, Agripina Mendoza, Lucia Baeza, Lola Salgado, Lupe Chavez and Sofia Towns; her brothers, Juan, Francisco and Carlos Martinez. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Deacon Ernie Sanchez of Stanton; a daughter, Rosarea Roblez of Stanton; a sister, Gloria Torres of San Antonio; brothers, Benjamin Martinez of Odessa, Jose Martinez of Arlington; and grandchildren, Lauren Thompson (Kevin), John David Roblez of Lubbock and Jessica Sanchez of Plano. Funeral mass was July 7 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stanton. Burial followed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Rosary was July 6 at Stanton Memorial Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were Kevin Thompson, John David Roblez, Victor Esparza, Tommy Esparza, Raymond Ramos, Jr. and Lupe Sanchez. Arrangements were under the direction of Stanton Memorial Funeral Home and Chapel.
