RANKIN - Former Stanton sophomore Landon Burkhart remains ineligible to compete in high school athletics and will take his case, next, to the UIL in Austin later this fall.

A final decision could be made before the Christmas holidays, but for now Burkhart is not allowed to compete at Rankin, the latest school in his odyssey through West Texas this fall.

The youngest son of former Stanton teachers Jerry and Bonnie Burkhart, Landon was one of six people who testified Wednesday at a district hearing to determine his eligibility to compete in athletics for the Red Devils.

Along with his parents, who now teach at Rankin, Landon Burkhart gave testimony at a district meeting in Rankin Wednesday attended by the superintendents of the schools in Rankin’s basketball district - Grandfalls, Buena Vista, Sanderson and Marathon.
