Almost $8 grand raised at soup cookoff

STANTON - The 30th Annual Great Texas Soup Cook-Off was another huge success with $7,980 worth of proceeds generated from voting tickets, dessert auction and donations - all going toward the restoration of the historic Carmelite Monastery.

The top award of “Best Tasting Soup”, chosen by guest judge Midland author Jimmy Patterson, went to Reggie Baker of Stanton for his Regiano’s Italian Sauage Soup.

The top three soups with the most votes by general admission tickets were:

First Place - Martin County Fire Department, Second Place - Tere Garlington of Stanton; Third Place - Brandon Ireton of Stanton.
