STANTON - Janet Lenora Henson, known to her friends and family as Gongi, died, Aug. 19, 2019. Memorial services were Aug. 24, at the First Baptist Church of Stanton with Chris Cochran officiating.

She was born to Bailey and Sedorah Hand Mar. 17, 1945, in Big Spring. She lived in Midland most of her life and later moved with her husband, Jimmy Henson, to the family farm in Stanton. She was an active member of the Faith Foundation Church of Midland. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed spending time with her quilting guild and traveling to quilting retreats. She left an extensive legacy of “Gongi” quilts for her family and friends to remember her by.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bailey and Sedorah Hand, husband, Jimmy Henson and grandson, PFC Clayton W. Henson.

Left to cherish her memory are her twin sister, Janice Vondraseck of Stanton and brother Billy Hand; Son, Blake Tripplet of Sheridan OR; three step children, Randy Henson and wife Leta of Brownwood, Ronnie Henson of Dallas, and Glee Holcombe of Stanton. She was loving Gongi to eight grandchildren, Melissa Leiker and husband Gabe of Midland, JC Gallagher and wife Amber of Lakeway, Sharon Reid and husband Jake of Stanton, Daniel Henson and husband Dustin of Austin, Kason Anderson and wife Robyna of Stanton, Jennifer Gallagher of New Braunfels, Brandon Anderson of Stanton and Tony Henson of Dallas; 12 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

She was full of life and laughter. Her family and friends will treasure all the years spent with her and cherish the wonderful memories.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to a charity of choice or to the Clayton Henson Memorial Fund at Permian Basin Area Foundation, 550 W. Texas, Suite 1260, Midland, Texas 79701.
