License to carry instructors suddenly in high demand

WEST TEXAS and STANTON - People are surging to sign up for training to carry firearms leagally in the wake of the Odessa shooting that left seven people dead and 22 more injured over the Labor Day holiday.

Experts say sustained media coverage and calls for more gun control encourage people to look for ways to protect themselves.

Gun sales in Texas appear to be steady, based on federal background checks, but with the newest data only going back to February it will be a few more months before a correlation can be made between gun sales and the recent shootings in El Paso and Odessa.
