TARZAN - Memorial service for Rickey Hightower, 60 of Tarzan, will be Feb. 20, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Lamesa with Pastor Jim Medley officiating. Visitation will follow the service.

Mr. Hightower died Feb. 16, 2020 in Tarzan. He was born Nov. 26, 1959, in Lamesa, to Earl Vernon and Clara Onetta (Milstead) Hightower.

He married Shelly Hatchett Aug. 21, 1980 in Lamesa. They were married 39 years.

He farmed alongside his brothers all his life. Family, ranching, and roping were his love. He served on the Lamesa Rodeo Association for many years, alongside NRCS and University Lands. He also served on the FSA Board and was awarded Rancher of the Year in 2019.

He is survived by his wife, Shelly Hightower of Tarzan; children, Cody Hightower and wife Katie of Andrews, Ami Lowder and husband David of Andrews; and Bailey Ross Hightower of Patricia; sisters, Neta Woodul and husband Greg of Lamesa and Rita Cornett of San Angelo; brothers, Dan Hightower and wife Judy of San Angelo and Charlie Hightower and wife Janna of Patricia; grandkids, Taylor Lowder, Lilly Hightower, Brayden Lowder, Ella Hightower, Addison Hightower, and Clara Hightower; sister in law, Alison Foster and husband Montie of Flowergrove; and brother in law, Michael Hatchett of Lamesa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; father in law, Bill Hatchett; mother in law, Sarah Hatchett; and brother in law, Ronnie Cornett.
