New bridge expected to take two years to complete

STANTON – Construction on the Interstate 20 overpass on the West side of Stanton is expected to begin this summer. But before cheers of elation erupt, residents should understand the timetable for completion is expected to take two years.

Shortly after the bridge was repaired in the Fall of 2017, it was damaged again after a trucking company failed to acquire the proper permit to haul an oversized load.

On Jan. 15, 2018, a then 33-year-old New Mexico-based truck driver Samuel Greene was hauling oilfield equipment westbound along I-20 for Stay Loaded Trucking when he struck the bridge West of Stanton around 3 p.m.
