Martin County Hospital implements new policies/ restrictions

STANTON - Following in the footsteps of other healthcare providers across the state, Martin County Hospital District has restricted access to its facilities amid concerns about the potential spread of COVID-19 and to help ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and employees.

Hospital leadership enacted the revised visitor policy on Monday. The changes include the closing of the cafeteria to the public, no public access to the fitness center unless prescribed by a doctor for rehab, and no visitors for inpatients.

A couple more ways hospital leadership has chosen to minimize foot traffic was to cancel all elective surgeries and close the payment center.

“The public will be able to pay their bills by phone or online, but they will not be allowed in the hospital to make payments,” stated Martin County Hospital administrator Paul McKinney. “If these options are not viable for some, we will not be holding them accountable for missed payments and late fees will not be charged.”
