Martin County farmer helps Monsanto with 4-H donation

Martin County 4-H has received a $2,500 donation from America’s Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund and directed by local farmer Jason Phillips of Martin County. The donation will help the organization pay for contest entries, pay 4-H Enrollment Membership fees and supplies for the county 4- H program. For six years, America’s Farmers Grow Communities has collaborated with farmers to donate over $22 million to more than 8,000 community organizations across rural America.

Stanton students excel at Permian Basin Science Fair

A handful of Stanton elementary students, under the guidance of Teacher Erica Melton, brought home a slew of top awards at the Permian Basin Regional Science Fair this past Saturday. Winners included first place for Jonah Johnson in Physics, third place for Kamryn Madison in Physics, third place for Vanity Olivar Perez in Behavioral Science, first place in Environmental Science for Brittyn Carson, first place for Aiden Louder in Life Science and third place in Chemistry for Aiden Stone, who also received the National Association of Corrosion Engineers Top Project Award.

STANTON - On Feb. 9, The FCCLA Organization at Stanton High School, hosted a special guest speaker, Sean Carter. His message, “When Sean Speaks” is delivering a powerful statement to youth across America. The organization is dedicated to spreading the word of how important it is to think before you get behind the wheel of a car. Drunk driving prevention program coming to Stanton

Program teaches that automobiles, alcohol and asphalt don’t mix 
 

STANTON - When SeanSpeaks, a powerful, real life story about the consequences of riding with a drunk driver, will be presented at Stanton High School Auditorium on Feb. 9, 2016 starting at 10 am. Students at Stanton, Grady, Klondike and Garden City Jr. High and High Schools will learn about safety behind the wheel of a car.
