Simers welcome latest new addition

ABILENE - Gary and Julie Simer of Abilene are proud to announce the arrival of their brand new baby girl, Brevynn Jules Simer. The new addition was born at 12:11 pm on March 19, 2014. She weighed seven pounds, nine ounces and was 20 inches long.

Stanton One-Act Play moving onto area contest

STANTON - District 4AA Casts and crews converged on Stanton High School’s Auditorium on March 27 to compete in the One-Act Play district contest. Stanton’s production of scenes from Leading Ladies advanced to area contest. Brownfield was the other advancing school. Anna Porter was named the Outstanding Crew Member; Maggie Allred and Nathan Garlington made the Honorable Mention Cast; Hannah Franklin and David Ramsey made the All-Star Cast; and, Levi Bryand received the Best Actor Award.

Austin’s Star of Texas Livestock Show

Keep your eyes on the judge . . . Madie Baker of Stanton learned the lesson well. Her duroc was named grand champion this past week at the Star of Texas Livestock Show in Austin by judge Jason Hirshfield of Nebraska. Baker, Blake Snellgrove and Kristen Blocker from Martin County all exhibited top placing barrows at the show.
