Third new hotel in Stanton

The walls are going up at the third new hotel in Stanton, this one east of the Comfort Inn on the south side of the interstate. Rumors are a fourth could be coming soon.

Mickey Mouse

Mickey Mouse took a short break from meeting kids at Disney Parks bringing smiles to hundreds of kids lining the downtown Stanton streets last weekend during the Annual Old Settlers Reunion Parade.

Barley, Odom to exchange vows Oct. 18

CELINA - Shelby and Amy Barley of Celina are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Hanna Elizabeth Barley to Aaron Odom of Waco. Barley is the granddaughter of Nelda Hazlewood and the late Cliff Hazlewood Jr. of Stanton.

Arguello family to be honored at Old Settlers Reunion

Juan and Andrea Arguello were born in Doctor Arroyo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Juan immigrated to the United States at 18 years old. He returned to Mexico and married Andrea Castilleja. Juan’s family was prominent, his father was very successful. He owned land and was a farmer and rancher all his life. Juan and Andrea lived in Mexico for a few years after their wedding. They returned to the United States in 1912 when the Mexican Revolution broke out in Mexico.

Dave Campbell says Stanton will finish third, Grady second and Garden City will be first

WACO - Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine officially will hit the shelves this week, and it’s one of the most anticipated days for football fans in Texas. For area teams, Stanton is figured to be a third place team behind Post and Coleman in District 3 of Class AAA. Colorado City, Ballinger and Coahoma are ranked behind Stanton.

Stanton band members shine at state contest

PFLUGERVILLE - Several Stanton High School band members packed their instraments for a short trip to Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville to compete in the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest on May 24 - 26. Senior Anna Porter earned a silver medal for earning a Division 2 on her solo. Caleb Arndt earned a Division 3 on his solo and Skyler Church earned a 4.
