Stanton Elementary announces honor roll

STANTON - Stanton Elementary School has released the names of its students whose grades qualified for the fifth six weeks honor rolls or had perfect attendance.

”A” Honor Roll

1st Grade - Davin Armendarez, Lanie Burch, Isaac Cadena Ceballos, Beua Garrett, Leandra Gee, Ismael Juarez, Braxton Louder, Mason Martinez, Cote Mccown, Xavier Ruiz, Daniel Salazar.

2nd Grade - Bailey Brown, Addison Chandler, Hadley Fowler, Brayden George, Ethan Himbury, Tarynne Martinez, Corbin Mccain, Ryan Perez, Jacqueline Ramirez, Ryleigh Ramirez, Kylee Townsend, Marissa Vasquez, Lucas Whitaker.

3rd Grade - Drake Babcock, Emerie Barnes, Clayton Brown, Wesley Mccown, Anthony Villanueva.

Stanton FFA competes at area meet

STANTON - This past weekend the Stanton FFA chapter sent four freshmen to compete in Lubbock at the area competition for milk quality and livestock judging.

Ainslee Dunn, Myranda Hardin and Taylor Spencer placed 14th as a team in milk quality. Jaleigh Ivy competed as an individual and scored a 576 in the livestock judging. The four have improved their scores from the previous practice competitions and plan to keep working hard for next year’s competition.

Stanton OAP chosen alternate play at Class AAA area contest

STANTON - Stanton was awarded the Alternate Play at the Area Contest this week in Seminole.

Brooke Bird was named to the Honorable Mention Cast, Gabbi Vanderveen made the All- Kayli Inman Best Actress. Star Cast, and Kayli Inman won Best Actress.

Kimberly Silhan

Kimberly Silhan, a Whiteface FFA member, exhibited the class winning Hereford in the Houston Livestock Scramble Show that was also named reserve grand of that show. The next day, the steer - which was raised by Morgan Cox Cattle Company of Tarzan - was the second place lightweight in the regular Hereford show at Houston.

Carla Ingram receives four major awards for Salvation Army work

STONE MOUNTAIN, GA. - Carla Ingram was recently honored with four awards from The Annual Salvation Army Regional Conference in Stone Mountain Georgia.

Ingram, the wife of Martin County Sheriff Brad Ingram and a longtime active supporter of the Salvation Army as well as other programs, received the Lt. Colonel John Mikles Award in recognition of individuals who have raised more than $2,000,000 in 2017,

National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colo.

Roxton Stone, seven of Stanton, exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion Miniature Hereford Female in the World Show at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colo. Stone also won Reserve Champion Miniature Hereford Market Steer in the World Open Show and in the Junior Show.

Grable receives top all-district honor

STANTON - The Stanton Lady Buffaloes were well represented on this season District 5AAA All-District Honors including a superlative selection for Most Valuable Player, Payge Grable.

Grable helped lead the Buffs to a second place finish in District 5 as well as a bi-district title and area qualifier.

She is a junior at Stanton this season and averaged 14 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals per game.
