Scammers strike sheriff’s phones; don’t be fooled!

MARTIN COUNTY - The telephone number 432-756-3336 has been compromised by scammers who have called people in Lubbock, Wink and Midland - and those are justy the ones Martin County Sheriff Brad Ingram knows about.

“The calls show up on caller ID with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office name and the above number listed, “ said Ingram.

Stanton teacher and family reach out to make a difference

STANTON - For Patricia Acosta, the Foster Care and Adoption supervisor at Buckner of Midland, getting the call is never easy and hearing each child’s story gets even harder.

“Dylan was born in April and I got the call that there was a child at the hospital,” Acosta said. “The CPS worker gave me all the details, but said she’s not ready to be discharged... do you have a family?”

Franklin’s photography takes international honors

Three more names added to ballot for 2018 Martin County primary

MARTIN COUNTY - Three more names were added to the list of candidates this week, including third names in both of the contested races on the Martin County ballot.

As expected, incumbent Precinct 4 Martin County Commissioner Koy Blocker filed. He’s unopposed.

Four tractor trailers slammed into each other

Four tractor trailers slammed into each other in a major wreck on Hwy. 176 Monday morning in the fog. Two crashed into each other in the barrow ditch trying to avoid a third truck and then a fourth got into the mix at the end of it all. No deaths, but four injured..

Stanton FFA completes successful fall campaign

STANTON - It has been a successful fall contest season for the Stanton FFA chapter. This year the chapter competed in multiple competitions. Members started by going to the Sonora Hurricane Harvey benefit practice meet and placed first in the senior quiz, with Madeline Baker placing second in senior creed speaking.

Stanton police working the curious disappearance of drive-in deposits

STANTON - The curious case of the missing deposit has Stanton Police Department officers scratching their heads trying to figure out what happened at Sonic Friday night. An investigation continues in the search for the Friday deposit which left the drive in but never made it to the bank.
