Wet/dry election petition will not fly; some signers not registered voters here

MARTIN COUNTY - For the second time, an application to seek a wet/dry election in Martin County will have to be done again.

Some of the names on the petition are not registered voters, it was learned this week, which means the petition needed to ask Martin County commissioners to call an election is void and will have to be done again.

A previous petition was judged to be the wrong document by the Secretary of State’s office - so it was thrown out.
