Crews were busy busting curbs on Hwy. 137 for the driveway to the new Stanton fire hall being built on the site. The foundation is poured and steel and materials for the building are expected to arrive and start up in coming days

The driver of this rollover on I-20 in Martin County was believed to be from Seminole. He was critical when airlifted to Odessa earlier this week, after flipping his pickup when he rear-ended another truck. None of the four men in the other truck was hurt

Fourteen Wildcats advance to regional academic competition

Grady High School students competed in the district UIL academic meet at Loop last week, and placed second behind O'Donnell High School. Fourteen individuals, led by Zane Parker’s three first place victories, placed in the top three and will advance to the regional meet in Abilene later this month with hopes of making it to state.

Grady’s one-act play advances to second round April 9 at Sands

Grady High School’s one-act play, And They Dance Real Slow in Jackson, was one of three advancing plays to bi-district from the district competition at Sands High School last week. “We were very impressed with all six plays that competed,” said Grady Director Wendy Glaze. “It is an honor to be in the advancing group with Sands and Dawson – they did a great job. And Sands hosted a great district meet.

Stanton sending 15 to UIL regional academic contests

Stanton High School put together 323 points and will send 15 students on the the Regional UIL Academic meet at Abilene Christian University April 25. With competition at Reagan County High School in Big Lake, Stanton’s team consisted of 44 students competing in 20 different contests.

MARTIN COUNTY - With 34 Stanton and Grady FFA students and members of the Martin County 4H competing, the 2015 Martin County Rabbit show was a huge success. Judged by Alice Rogers, the show was at the Stanton High School FFA Building.

For the fourth year in a row, Stanton’s Best Band Herd wins Sweepstakes

STANTON - It’s the Super Bowl for bands. It’s right up there with winning state championships in football or roundball, tennis or track - or going down to San Antonio or Houston and winning the big stock show. For Texas high school bands, winning the coveted Sweepstakes award means “We’re Number One!”. It’s the gold standard for high school bands, who work countless hours to be the best they can be - just the same as any athletic team.

Construction crews

Construction crews put the rafters and roof on the new First National Bank in Stanton this past week when a little break in the weather gave workers a chance to get some things done. More rain - at least it’s not ice - is expected this weekend.
