Cough syrup, not burgers sought by drug burglars

STANTON - Most times folks head to Stanton Drug for one of the best burgers around. But that’s not always the case - take Monday night for example. Two, maybe three or more, “visitors” to Stanton chose the Drug Store, not for one of those big juicy hamburgers, but for some relief from that nagging cough they apparently had been experiencing since leaving the Houston area.

Grady advances to state finals, plays at 8:30 am, Saturday

It took the better part of three quarters plus, but the Grady Wildcats finally got it done Thursday, beating Coolidge 64-58 to earn a berth Saturday in the state Class A finals. Grady and Coolidge slugged it out for three quarters, with the Yellowjackets holding the lead at every interval. A tough inside game and the play of Manuel SantaCruz and Delvin Smith gave Coolidge the edge 13-9 at the end of the first stanza and a lead of 29-28 at intermission.
