Maybe a dozen cases will be solved with two in jail and six more sought

MARTIN COUNTY - When the dominos started falling, as many as a dozen cases were cleared up - two men are in jail and as many as six more are being sought with warrants issued this week. Martin County Sheriff’s Department officers have been busy with a series of thefts, break-ins and even a shooting at the post office in Lenorah over the last few months.

Filing opens for city, school as deadline nears to register

Voters who hope to cast ballots in the March party primaries better get busy if they have not registered to vote. The deadline is Monday at 5 pm to be registered for the March primaries. Registration is done at the Elections Office across the street to the northwest of the Martin County Courthouse in Stanton. The office is open Friday and Monday for registering. That office also will be the location for early voting in those primaries, starting Feb. 16 and going through Feb. 26.

Mustang district receives award for 75 years of service to area

Serving farmers in Martin and Glasscock counties for three quarters of a century earned the Mustang Soil and Water Conservation District #242 a plaque from the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board in recognition of those 75 years of service. SWCDs are a subdivision of state government, like a county or a school district. The plan of work, programs, and activities of the districts are developed according to the local needs in the district.

Foster, Roberts, Baker, Lee show grands at stock show

MARTIN COUNTY - Stetson Foster, Jordan Roberts, Madey Baker and Courtney Lee were the grand champion exhibitors at the 2016 Martin County Livestock Show this past weekend. Judge Austin Voyle of Potter County named champions and reserves in all four divisions Friday and Saturday.
