Investigation officially starts in school theft

MARTIN COUNTY - It was confirmed this week that a fullscale investigation is being carried out at Grady schools following allegations of theft of funds. Martin County Cheif Deputy Ernie Wakefield said this week that after meeting with administrators in Grady this week, the sheriff’s office has begun an investigation.

Ground broken on latest hotel on the interstate

STANTON - Ground was broken on the third new hotel to come to Stanton in recent years. An Odessa construction crew had enough break in the action, as one of the outfit’s employees said, to get over to Stanton and start on a new Super 8 Hotel. It was not immediately known how many rooms would be built for the new three-story hotel which is going in just east of the USDA building.

Funds theft investigated at Grady schools

Anonymous letters sent to Midland/Odessa television stations have resulted in an investigation into the possible theft of funds at Grady schools. The letters also question the school district’s nepotism policies.

A new Tractor Supply store will be coming soon to Stanton after the city council voted Monday to change the zoning for the store to be built on I-20 east of the USDA building.

A grinding crash Tuesday on Hwy. 176 left one truck driver in critical condition and the other now released after a helicoptor ride to the hospital.

The fix is in again for one of the worst intersections around

MARTIN COUNTY - The long-awaited repairs - yet again - to the Martin County intersection of Hwy. 176 and Hwy 137 is expected to begin any day. The Odessa District office of Texas Department of Transportation announced this week begins work on seven intersections that badly need repairs.

Tractor Supply announces new Stanton store

STANTON - On the heels of the announcement by Stanton’s First National Bank that it will build a new, two-story facility and the news that one - and maybe two - more hotels are interested in coming to town, the Stanton City Council moved Monday night to make some zoning changes for a new Tractor Supply store in Stanton. Tricia Hastings, who represents a Marble Falls company that develops property for Tractor Supply, presented plans to the Stanton City Council Monday.
