Major oilfield theft being investigated

MARTIN COUNTY - The FBI has been called in - as has the West Texas Oil Task Force, the two law enforcement outfits teaming with the Martin County Sheriff’s Department to investigate  a major theft of oil in MartinCounty. While final figures have not been released, at least one lawman said thieves could have made off with hundreds of thousands of dollars in fuel

‘Cats edge Calvert, get Number One Tornadoes

SAN ANTONIO – After 40 minutes of all-out effort in the Class A state semi-final between Grady and Calvert at the Alamo Dome Thursday morning in San Antonio, the tale of the tape boiled down to one minuscule free throw that gave Grady the final 76-75 edge. Calvert’s Trojans controlled the boards on both ends of the court to hold Grady to 68 attempts while jacking up 86 of their own.

Midland company plans construction of gas processing plant near Grady

MARTIN COUNTY - A Midland-based company, which is being sold to Houston-based EnLink Midstream, is planning to construct a 200 MMcf/d gas processing plant about four and a half miles  south of Grady school in Martin County.Considered a large-sized plant - to be called the Riptide Plant, it  is designed to expand the existing gathering and processing system owned by Coronado Midstream of Midland, which is in negotiationsfor sale to EnLink. Located along FM 829, the plant will more than double the size  of Coronado’s current capacity.

Man dies in one of 11 wrecks in ice

MARTIN COUNTY - The latest round of ice and sleet sent vehicles flying around Martin County on Monday when 11 wrecks were worked by law enforcement and emergency medical  personnel.One Lubbock man was killed in on.e of the rollovers. He was the driver of a vehicle that overturned on Hwy. 137 about 14 miles north of Stanton

Another week and, yep, another bad wreck - this one wiped out the rest stop - WIPED it out - between Tarzan and Andrews when a belly-dump truck plowed through the roadside stop area and tore it into oblivion. No serious  njuries were reported.
