BIG SPRING - Funeral services for San Juanita Olivas of Big Spring, were June 11, at Stanton Memorial Funeral Home and Chapel in Stanton. Interment followed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Stanton. A Rosary Vigil was June 10, at Stanton Memorial Funeral Home. She was born to Amado Gutierrez Valle and Juanita Gonzales Valle on June 12, 1956, in Pearsall and died June 7, 2016, she was a resident of Big Spring, and a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her husband Jose Olivas Sr. She is survived by her daughters Valerie Olivas and Lisa Olivas of Big Spring; sons Jose Olivas Jr. (Lark Olivas) and Eric Olivas (Ashley Mehan) of Big Spring; sisters Soila Cruz of Big Spring, Gilda Castillo and Maria Caballero of Lubbock; brothers Amado Valle Jr. and Julian Valle Sr. of Big Spring and one grandchild.

ANDREWS - Javier Flores, of Andrews, was born on Nov. 29, 1964, and died May 20, 2016. He was a 1983 graduate of Stanton High School and was married to Dora Flores. Family and friends gathered to celebrate his life May 24 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Ogbonna officiating. Interment followed in the Andrews North Cemetery under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home.

John Albert Snell

STANTON - Graveside services for John Albert Snell, 80 of Stanton, were June 8, in the Holly Grove Cemetery in Segno with Bro. Harold Isaacs officiating. Mr. Snell was born June 22, 1935 in Flatwood, to parents, William Hollis Snell and Grace Pearl (Strickland) Snell, and died June 2, 2016, in Midland. He is preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Cissy (Pauline) Snell; brothers, Truman Snell and Gayland Snell; and sister, Leola Fillyaw. He is survived by his sons, William R. Snell and Melissa of Austin and Michael L. Snell of San Antonio; daughter, Kathy L. Lingle and Billy of Midland; granddaughter, Sharla Oatis of Jasper; greatgrandchildren, Jeremy, Amanda, and Destiney; sister, Doris Bennett of Eastland; sister-in-law, Ann Polak of Lake Charles, LA; along with numerous other relatives and friends over several states. Cochran Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

STANTON - Maria Acosta, 75, died May, 30, 2016, at Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation. Vigil services were June 1 at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services were June 2 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Stanton. She was born July 28, 1940, at Dilley, to Coleta and Florencio Garza, Sr. She married Frank Acosta, Dec. 21, 1961. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stanton. She loved music, dancing, cooking, baking, but most of all spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her husband: Frank Acosta, Sr. of Lenorah; four children: Frank Acosta Jr.
