Jamie Chloe Boren

ROBERT LEE - Jamie Chloe Boren, 87, died Dec. 22, 2014, in Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo. Funeral services were Dec. 27 at First United Methodist Church of Robert Lee with the Reverend Cyndi Weidner officiating. Burial followed in Robert Lee Cemetery. She was born Nov. 11, 1927, to Alley and Alta Bilbo in Robert Lee. She was one of five sisters, all of whom grew up in Robert Lee, often helping their father at the Bilbo Drug Store. After graduating from Robert Lee High School, she went on to study journalism at Sul Ross University and obtained her bachelor of arts and went on to write for the Sheep and Goat Raisers Magazine. She later worked for the Big Spring Herald as editor for the society section. She married Robert J. Boren at Robert Lee First United Methodist Church on June 1, 1951. Born to this union were their three children, Kathy Jo, Thomas Bilbo “”Bebo”” and John Robert.

Enrique Cázares

STANTON - Enrique Cázares, 79, known to his farming buddies as “Ricky”, died Dec. 25, 2014. He was born on July 13, 1935, in Camargo, Chihuahua, MX to Mariana and Jesus Cázares. He began farming in Texas at a very young age, and was very dedicated to his work as a cotton farmer in Martin County and also to his pecan orchards in Mexico. He retired at the age of 75 years of age. He enjoyed farming cotton, working in his summer vegetable garden, watching soccer and baseball games, attending church, as well as spending time with his family. He was especially proud of his precious grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son Juan José Cázares.

Billie Dale Yoes Dowden Lewis

ABILENE - Billie Dale Yoes Dowden Lewis, 81 of Abilene, died Dec. 25, 2014, after a short illness. Graveside service was Dec. 28 at City Cemetery in Overton under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home in Overton. She was born on Feb. 11, 1933, at Turnertown to William and Ella (Gray) Yoes. She was one of five sisters: Novella, Wanda, Dorothy, Billie, and Delores. A brother, David Yoes, died at birth. She attended school at New London where she met George Dowden. The couple dated, and later married on Sept. 2, 1950 at the Overton Church of Christ. The couple had five children: Darla, Douglas, Gregory, who died at birth, Jinjer, and Derek. The couple lived in Overton, Tyler, San Angelo, Midland, and Tatum, NM, before settling in Stanton. They were members of the Belvue Church of Christ in Stanton. George died in 1998 and she relocated to Roby near her children and became a member of the Church of Christ in Roby. She married William (Bill) Lewis, of Midland on Oct.

CARLSBAD, NM - Becky Ruth Phillips, 63 and a former Stanton resident, died Dec. 10, 2014, at Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad, N.M. There was a gathering at the First Baptist Church, Dec. 14 in Stanton. A graveside service was in Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton.

Billy Ray Wells

MIDLAND - Billy Ray Wells, 40 of Midland, died Dec. 6, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. Funeral services were Dec. 11 at Belvue Church of Christ in Stanton. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton. He was born Jan. 11, 1974, in Andrews and grew up in Odessa. He was a construction contractor his whole life. He loved long walks and having fun. He is survived by his father, JohnnyW. Wells and wife Jan of Stanton; his mother,  Donna Stroope of Midland; two sisters, Trisha Wells of Odessa and Kasey Peters of Spring Branch; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends in South Carolina. Lucia Pickett

DENTON - Lucia Pickett, 94 of Denton, formerly of Stanton, died Dec. 9, 2014, in a Denton hospital. Funeral services will be 2 pm, Dec. 13 at the First United Methodist Church in Stanton. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm, Dec. 12 at Gilbreath Funeral Home. She was born Sep. 23, 1920, in Reagan, and married Roy Pickett Nov. 15, 1942, in El Paso. He preceded her in death Sep. 8, 1991. She graduated from Texas State Women’s University, now TWU, in 1941 and moved to Stanton in 1952. She worked as a legal secretary for her husband and also for West Texas Abstract until she was 87 years old. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of First United Methodist Church of Stanton and was the church pianist and organist for 50 years. She was an avid Texas A & M fan.
