Charles Leslie Bridges

SAN ANTONIO - Charles Leslie Bridges was born in Stanton on Sept. 8, 1940, and died Aug. 7, 2014 at the age of 73. He is preceded in death by his son Jesse Bridges and parents Bascom Thomas and Mary Margaret Bridges. Survivors include his wife of 37 years Connie Bridges; daughter Rebecca B. Hutchinson and husband Tom and other family members and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christus Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital Cancer Center www.chofsa.org in honor of Charles. Pallbearers include Billy Bradberry, Lynn Ellison, Felix Martinez, Charles Russell, Willie Rangel, and Tim Farr. Honorary pallbearers are Jay Ortega, Jason Ortega, Joe Hernandez, Felipe Alanis Sr., Felipe Alanis Jr. and Milton Rangel.

Bob Stewart

BIG SPRING - Bob Stewart, 81 of Big Spring, died Aug. 12, 2014, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15 at Spring Creek Fellowship. The family will receive friends immediately following the services. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Mt. Olive Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife, Ben Ella Stewart; a daughter, Teresa Griffin who is a longtime Stanton teacher; and four brothers.

Joyce Kemper Ditto

BIG SPRING - Joyce Kemper Ditto, 86 of Big Spring, died Aug. 11, 2014, in a local nursing home. She lived most of her life in the Knott community where she and her husband Son Ditto farmed. Funeral services were Aug. 14, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment followed at Trinity Memorial Park. Survivors include her son, Kyle Ditto; her daughter, D’Aun Taylor; and one sister.

Charles Harl Williams

CORSICANA - Charles Harl Williams, 83 of Corsicana, died Aug. 8, 2014, in Corsicana. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Funeral services were Aug. 11 at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana. Burial followed with military honors at Oakwood Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Anna Carroll Williams of Corsicana; children, Michael Williams of Leesburg, FL., Douglas Williams of Severna Park, M.D., and Sharon Bugg of Fort Worth; siblings, Eloise Wood of Fort Worth, Joyce Thompson of Fort Worth, Nancy Franklin of Odessa, Elton Williams of Stanton; brother, Paul Williams; and five grandchildren.

Averill Hale Badgett “MaMaw”

Averill Hale Badgett “MaMaw”, 90 of Andrews, died on Aug. 4, 2014. The family received friends on Aug. 7 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Funeral services were at 1 PM on Aug. 8 at Alamo Heights Baptist Church in Midland. Burial will follow at Resthaven North in Midland. She was born on March 22, 1924, in Loraine to Nettie and Charlie Hale. She was one of 11 children. Growing up she worked  on the farm pulling cotton.

JoAnn Edwards

COMANCHE - JoAnn Edwards, 71, died July 28, 2014, at her residence in Comanche. She was born at home in Pittsburgh County, Oklahoma, to Robert and Theo (Zachary) Mullins. On April 7, 1967, she married Steve Edwards in Childress. For many years she owned and operated an upholstery shop. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Sidney Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Steve Edwards of Comanche; three children: Lou Ann Pond and husband Steve of Deer Park, Paula Dobbins and husband Richard of Amarillo, and Robert Edwards of Comanche; four grandchildren: Derek Woodall, and Brandon Houston of Deer Park, and Amanda Dobbins and Kalem Dobbins of Amarillo; one great-grandson, Weston Woodall; three brothers, Robert Mullins, Donald Mullins, and Lynn Mullins, all of Midland; one sister, Linda Hopper of Stanton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one nephew.

Guadalupe Martinez

ODESSA Guadalupe “Lupe” Martinez, 38 of Stanton, died July 13, 2014, at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland. Funeral services were July 19 at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel. She was born in Ojinaga, Mexico. Survivors include her usband, Jose Juan Martinez of Stanton; son Rogelio Martinez of Stanton; daughters, Gabriela “Gaby” Nieto, Anahi Nieto and Genisis Martinez, all of Stanton; parents, Jesus and Sara Herrera of Odessa; brothers, Concepcion Armendariz and Ruben Marquez, both of Ojinaga, Mexico, and Vicente Marquez and Pedro Marquez, both of Odessa; and sisters, Dora Leyva, Maria Herrera and Sylvia Hernandez, all of Odessa, and Ramona Marquez of Plainview.
