STANTON - Jose Olivos Jr., 63, of Stanton, formerly of Big Spring, died Oct. 25, 2014. Services were Oct. 28, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Myers & Smith Funeral Home of Big Spring was in charge of services.

Philip R Morrow

DALLAS - Philip R Morrow, MD, of Dallas, died Oct. 16, 2014, surrounded by his wife, Elizabeth and his loving family. He was born Jan. 28, 1929, the third child and only son of Costa D. and Gladys M. Morrow in Sherman. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1946 where he served as class president, was elected most handsome and was later designated as a distinguished alumnus. He then attended Austin College, graduating in 1950. While at AC, he embraced student life as a founding member and President of The Drakes social fraternity. After graduating from AC Philip began the pursuit of his chosen profession by attending medical school at UT Southwestern in Dallas. Following graduation from UTSW in 1954 he then served proudly in the US Army as Captain in the Army Medical Corp and was stationed at Ft Carson, Colorado. Upon his discharge from the service, he returned to Dallas to begin his residency in general surgery.

Frank O’Banion

CROSS PLAINS - Frank O’Banion, age 80, died Oct. 6, 2014 with his family around him. Funeral services were at First Baptist Church, Cross Plains, on Oct 9. Mr. O’Banion was born on Aug. 17, 1934, to Guy Frank and Nettie Gertrude Wilkerson O’Banion in San Antonio. He was saved at Northside Baptist Church in San Antonio and surrendered to full time Christian ministry at the age of 12 at Alto Frio Baptist Camp. He graduated from Thomas Edison High School and received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Howard Payne College in 1957, and attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth where he studied music and religious education. He served in the United States Army from 1957-1959 where he served in Panama as a teletype operator during peace time. He married Edna Applin on Sept. 17, 1960, and they had five children together.

Elizabeth Chase

ABILENE - Elizabeth L. “Bea” Chase died Sept. 28, 2014, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 2, 1926, in Breckenridge. She and her family moved to Abilene in 1933. She attended Abilene public schools, graduating from Abilene High School in 1944. During her days at AHS she made many lifelong friends, including a group that called themselves the “Girls of 44” with whom she shared a bond that never ended. She attended Hardin Simmons University as a freshman before marrying her soul mate and “love of her life” Lewis J. Chase on April 23, 1945. Her life can be summed up in three words, Faith, Family and Friends. She was a Charter Member of Brookhollow Christian Church where she served on the Board, served as a Deacon and as President of the Christian Women’s Fellowship numerous times.Second only to her faith, family was the most important thing in her life. Family included not only her biological family members but her extended “adopted” family as well.

Betty Sue Long Spencer

PURMELA - Funeral Services for Betty S. Spencer were Sept. 30, at Smith’s Cemetery in Purmela. She was born Jan. 27, 1925, in Kingsville, MO and died Sept. 28, 2014. She was homemaker and lived in Midland. She is survived by her son Alvin Faglie and his wife Shirley of Midland; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is proceded in death by husband Alvin Faglie Sr. and Lynn Spencer. Sons Martin Neal Faglie, Joe Dale Faglie and Johnny Ray Faglie.

Jesus Martinez

STANTON - Funeral mass for Jesus Martinez was Sept. 26, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Tim Schwertner officiating, interment followed at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. He died Sept. 24, 2014 and was born on June 26, 1926, in Mexico. He lived in Stanton and was a farmer for many years. He is survived by his daughter Soledad Martinez and grandson Daniel Marmolejo of Midland and friend Janie Villa of Stanton.

Jeanne Ann Poling

MIDLAND - Jeanne Ann Poling died Sept. 21, 2014. Memorial services will be Sept. 26, 2014 at Moore Funeral Home-Bowen Chapel. She was born May 18, 1950, to Margaret and Charles Greener in Stanton and married Charles Larry Poling on Nov. 30, 1968. She loved being a mother and grandmother; she enjoyed cooking, shopping and decorating her house. She helped establish ETLS Inc. and loved to travel to Hawaii and Alaska. She was preceded in death by her father and her brother, Gary Greener. Survivors include her husband, Charles Larry Poling; children, Kathy Poling, Dianne Jasso, David Poling and Christine Stevens; grandchildren, Echo, Cage and Dash Jasso, Lily and Elise Poling, Liberty Torrance and Hannah Stevens; mother, Margaret Greener; and sister, Judith Schneider.
