George M. Peters

George M. Peters, 88 of Midland and formerly of Stanton, died Feb. 14, 2014, in a Midland nursing home. Rosary service was Feb. 19 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stanton. Funeral Mass was also Feb.19 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stanton with Msgr. James Bridges, officiating. Interment followed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Stanton. He was born Nov. 20, 1925, in Jourdanton. He graduated from Stanton High School and attended the University of Texas. Mr. Peters served in the United States Navy during World War II. He farmed in Martin County and owned and operated his own well logging business for 30 years. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Midland and was a life member of the American Legion Post #19 and VFW Post #7208. Survivors include one sister, Clara Holliman of San Angelo; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Juan S. Fuentes

MIDLAND - Juan S. Fuentes, “Big John,” 57 of Midland, died Feb. 2, 2014, after a brief illness at Midland Memorial Hospital. He was born in Stanton on May 16, 1957. He worked with Olgin Builders and Salazar Framing for many years. He enjoyed many sports and loved listening to music. He graduated from Robert Lee in 1975. During his teenage years, he attended Emmanuel Baptist Church and played drums for a church music group. He is survived by his mom, Irma S. Fuentes; three sons, Michael Fuentes, Adam Fuentes, and Jacob Fuentes; three daughters, Alexandra Fuentes, Kaylan Fuentes, and Katelyn Fuentes; a sister, Rose Bernal and her husband Saul; brothers, Hilario Fuentes and his wife Esther, all from Midland; Richard Fuentes and his wife Candy, of Ardmore, Oklahoma; Ruben Fuentes and his wife Lydia, of Ft. Worth, and by 11 grandchildren, three aunts and six uncles, and nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his dad, Juan A. Fuentes, Sr. of Midland.

SEMINOLE - John Letkeman, 67 of Lubbock, died Feb. 8, 2014, at University Medical Center in Lubbock.Funeral services were Feb. 10 at Gospel Mission Church in Seminole with the Rev. Dave Klassen officiating. Burial followed at Gaines County Cemetery in Seminole. He was born in Mexico. He was a Christian. Survivors include his wife, Anita Letkeman of Lubbock; sons, John Letkeman Jr. and David Letkeman, both of Seminole, and Isaac Letkeman of Stanton; daughter, Tina Redekopp of Belize; brothers, Henry Letkeman and Peter Letkeman, both of Mexico, and Bill Letkeman and Neil Letkeman, both of Seminole; sisters, Katharina Braun of Mexico, Helen Redecop of Mississippi, and Anne Wiebe of Seminole; and 15 grandchildren.

Zachariah Dylan Perez

LENORAH - Funeral mass for Zachariah Dylan Perez of Lenorah was Jan. 27 at Grady High School Gymnasium with Father Tio officiating. Interment followed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary Vigil was Jan. 25 and 26 at Stanton Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. He was born Jan. 1, 1992, in Midland and died Jan. 23, 2014, in Big Spring. He graduated in 2010 from Grady High School. He was a resident of Lenorah and worked for RK Pump and Supply. He is survived by his father Carlos and Velma Perez of Lenorah; mother Delena Franco of Virginia; grandparents Alejandro and Hortencia Perez of Lenorah and Albert Franco of Big Spring; sisters Esperanza Perez and Angelina Perez; brothers Elijah Perez and Joaquin Perez, all of Lenorah. Serving as pallbearers were Jacob Rodriguez, Josh Hinojosa, Shane Teague, Matthew Bacon, E.J Rodriguez, Mason Rutledge, Leighton Fields and Lane Shands. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Stanton Memorial Funeral Home & Chapel.
