Rita Joan Knox

STANTON - Rita Joan Knox, 83, died Nov. 17, 2013, and was was born Nov. 11, 1930, in Forth Worth, to Dwight Wallace McDonald and his wife Gladys Elizabeth Midkiff. In 1932, the family moved to Midland where she graduated from Midland High School in 1948, briefly attending Hardin-Simmons University, afterward. She enjoyed three love-filled marriages in her lifetime. On Sep. 13, 1949, she and Barry Kenton Boone were married and began their lives together on the Boone Ranch in Midland County. Through their daughters, Rita and Michelle, the Boone ranching heritage has continued, to the present day. Their twenty-three years together ended
with his death in 1972. Her second marriage came on July 2, 1976, to Richard Leslie “Dick” Zimmermann. During this time, she began a lifelong bond and love for Richard’s two children, Barbara and Bob, and also became

Darryl Floyd Sisson II

MIDLAND - Darryl Floyd Sisson II, 55 and formally of Stanton, died on Nov. 7, 2013, at Midland Memorial Hospital. He was born on Oct. 25, 1958, in Big Spring to Darryl F and Rosan B Sisson. He is survived by his daughter Jamie Lynn Sisson and grandson Aiden James Sisson of Midland, father Darryl Sisson of Stanton, sister Deana Jones and husband Donnie of Greenville, brother Neal Sisson of Stanton and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Rosan Sisson and both paternal and maternal grandparents. Graveside services will be Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery Chapel in Stanton.

Calvin B. Smith

Calvin B. Smith, 86, died Nov. 4, 2013 in Stanton. He was born May 14, 1927, in Midland to Reeves B. Smith and Barnie Mae Carpenter Smith. He married Bertie Faye Barr on Mar. 11, 1949. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was the superintendent of Roads and Bridges for Martin County. He loved working around the house and fishing with the grandkids. Survivors include his wife, Bertie Faye; sons Terry and wife Leza Smith and Todd and wife Tamala Smith, all of Stanton; sisters Christine Waddill, Dorothy McQuery and Patty Anderson; grandchildren, Chad and wife Jaci Smith, Ty Smith, Tasha and husband Bryan Creech, Troy Bradley Smith; and six great-grandchildren. Michelle Lynn Singleterry

MIDLAND - Funeral Mass for Michelle Lynn Singleterry of Stanton was Oct. 30 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Monsignor Schwertner officiating. Interment followed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary Vigil was Oct. 29 at Stanton Memorial Funeral Home. She was born Nov. 3, 1972, in Stanton, and died Oct. 24, 2013 in Midland. She was a lifelong resident of Stanton and was an assistant manager of the Stripes Convenient Store in Stanton. She was preceded in death by her father Juan Saenz, brother Roger Tello and sister Sandra Salcido. She is survived by her mother Janie Juantos of Midland, sisters Susannah Cazares of Stanton and Brenda Singleterry of Midland, brother Robert Tello of Midland, daughter Lacie Singleterry of Midland, a granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Stanton Memorial Funeral Home.
