Wildcats, Bearkats claw it out in Grady

GRADY - The Grady Wildcats junior high basketball teams looked battled Garden City on Monday Night in Grady.

The Wildcats defended their home court and bested the Garden City Bearkats 28-22.

The two teams were very evenly matched but Grady made two more field goals in the first half for a slim 12-8 halftime advantage.

Grady stretched its lead to 21-10 after a dominating third quarter and managed to hold off a charging Garden City team in the final eight minutes for the six point victory.

Chapman Sims posted a season high 10 points to lead Grady in scoring.

Grady Wildcats split games with Coahoma Bulldogs

GRADY - Grady’s varsity and junior varsity basketball teams faced-off with Coahoma’s teams Tuesday evening at Grady High School.

The varsity Wildcats jumped all over Coahoma early en route to a seven point victory while Coahoma’s junior varsity came out of the gate blazing and beat Grady by double digits.

In the junior varsity match-up, Coahoma opened the game with a 23-10 first half run.

The third quarter did Grady in as the Bulldogs out scored the Wildcats 13-2.

Grady closed the gap a little in the final frame but Coahoma ran away with the 41-20 victory.

Wildcats split with Loop, Forsan

GRADY - The Grady Wildcats varsity boys basketball team split its last two games with Loop and Forsan.

On Nov. 22, Grady traveled to Loop and used a dominating second half to beat the Longhorns 73-44.

Loop took a slim 18-17 lead after the first quarter and the two team were tied at 30 by halftime.

Grady claims two victories over Robert Lee

ROBERT LEE - Grady’s varsity and junior varsity girls basketball teams picked up impressive wins over Robert Lee last week.

The junior varsity crushed Robert Lee 25-12.

Delaney Saunders finished with a game high 18 points while Breanna Garza added four and Kenley Ivy had three.

The varsity Wildcats won 48-42.

Grady opens season with back-to-back wins over Sands

GRADY - Grady’s “B” boys basketball team beat Sands twice to start the season with a 2-0 record. On Nov.14, Grady overcame a slow start to beat Sands 14-9. 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final Grady 00 04 06 04 14 Sands 03 02 02 02 09 Dalton Saunders led Grady with six points while Tyler Braken scored five and Gunner Cherry tossed in three.

Mustangs out perform Wildcats

GRADY - Grady hosted Sands on Monday and it was the Mustangs walking off the court with two victories. The Grady seventh grade girls lost 33-6. Nayce McMorries had four points and Selig Burge added two. “This was the first full game for these young ladies.

Grady takes second in Forsan Tourney

FORSAN - Grady’s varsity girls basketball team has started the season off pretty well after finishing second in the Forsan Buffaloes Tournament this past weekend.

In pool play, Grady defeated Rankin 39-32.

Stanton starts, ends grid iron season with wins

COLORADO CITY – The Stanton Buffaloes closed out the 2019 football season with an impressive road win over Colorado City.

The Buffaloes jumped out to an early 14-0 lead and increased their advantage to 20-6 by halftime. The margin grew to 32-12 after the third quarter and eventually ended with Stanton winning 38-20.

Stanton’s passing attack was led by Tyler Benedict who finished with four completions for 59 yards. Miguel Moreno had one completions for 14 yards.

Stanton’s receiving group was led by Austin Hewtty with 22 yards. Evan Cox had 19 yards while Cody Beasley gained 18 and Benedict 14.
