Buffalo Stadium to host Don Hardin Texas Bowl Saturday

STANTON - Several high school athletes will have one more chance to play the game they love at the 2018 Don Hardin Texas Bowl this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Stanton High School.

The states best six-man pubic school athletes will face off with the best of private schools.

Area player’s for the public team include Taveen Raynor of Sterling City, Jordan Burkhart of Richland Sprins and Hutton Lusty of Richland Springs.

Sands, Gail athletes win honors at Sul Ross State University

ALPINE - A total of 16 Sul Ross State University student-athletes have been named to the Winter-Spring American Southwest Conference Academic All-Conference list in an announcement Tuesday, June 5.

Included on the ASC Winter-Spring Academic All-Conference list are the sports of baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf, softball, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s track and field.

Football state championships at AT&T Dec. 19-22

AUSTIN — All University Interscholastic League football state championship games will be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. The 11-man and six-man football championship games will be played at AT&T Stadium, with a schedule placing all 12 games in a four-day span. The 2018 championship games will take place December 19-22.

“We are pleased to bring the UIL Football State Championships back to AT&T Stadium for another two years,” said UIL Executive Director Dr. Charles Breithaupt. “The UIL is excited to showcase the best high school football in Texas during this unique championship experience.”

Lady Buffs honored with all district, all state, all American selections

STANTON - After their most successful season in program history, several Stanton Lady Buff softball players and managers were honored with All-District selections and many more were recognized by NFCA/ Easton as Academic All-Americans or Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All State.

Junior Victoria Carby led the Buffs with a first team selection as pitcher and Marisela Escamilla was selected as second team third baseman. Trinity Johnson was honorable mention utility player.

Martin County Ceremonies Stanton will graduate 67 Friday; 12 to walk Grady stage Friday

MARTIN COUNTY - A totalof 79 Martin County students are scheduled to receive their high school diplomas following the end of their respective shool years. At Stanton High School, 67 students comprise the Class of 2018, which will walk across the stage Friday evening at ceremonies scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. at the Stanton High School auditorium.

 

Grady High School will also have its commencement ceremonies on Friday and will grant 12 diplomas to the Class of 2018 starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Wildcat Gynasium. Honor graduates at each ofthe high schools are Stanton Valedictorian Gabriella Vanderveen and Salutatorian Jamie Saen

Class A tennis world

Dominic Gibson, the Grady senior who just won his third straight state crown, will be whacking balls in college up in Indiana. Connor Sales

Connor Sales, a senior at Stanton High School, signed a letter of intent on May 17 to play basketball at Bethany College in Kansas. He will be receiving scholarships for both basketball and academics

Lyon just a second away from gold; Grady relay team takes fourth at state

STANTON – The Grady Wildcats track team wrapped up an impressive season at the State Track and Field championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium at the University of Texas in Austin on May 11 and 12.

Alyssa Lyon was part of one of the closest races of the day as she was less than a second from winning gold. Instead, she managed fourth place in the 300 meter hurdles with a strong time of 47.96.
