North going to regionals in hurdles, 100 meters

JIM NED – Stanton’s Payden North is headed for the Region I-AAA track and field meet at Abilene Christian University on Apr. 27 and 28 after a strong performance at the Area meet at Jim Ned High School on Apr. 18. The top four athletes from both District 5 and District 6 competed against each other with the top four finishers earning the right to compete at the Region I track and field meet. North qualified for regionals in the 100 meter dash, 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles.

Girls put a wrap on 2018 with 8-18 season

STANTON – The Lady Buff’s softball team wrapped up their season on Apr. 20, finishing with an overall record of 8- 18 and a district record of 1-9. For the second straight year, Stanton has improved its overall record and for the first time in the school’s history, the Lady Buffs won a district game by beating Merkel 12-8 on Apr. 3. Wildcats finish fourth at area meet, qualify five for regionals next week

HERMLEIGH - Grady’s varsity girls finished fourth at the Area track meet at Hermleigh High School on Apr. 16.

The Area track meet consists of the top four finishers from both District 11 and District 12 track meets.

Borden County and Klondike tied for the Area team championship with 124 points each.

Westbrook finished third with 96 followed by Grady in fourth with 67 and Sands fifth scoring 53 points.

Wildcats sending half a dozen to regionals

HERMLEIGH – The Grady Wildcats had a successful day at the Area track meet at Hermleigh High School on Apr. 16 qualifying six athletes in eight events.

Grady’s 4x400 relay team of Marshall Cox, Cristian Jimenez, Jordan Rodriguez and Alijah Ontiveros, earned the Wildcats only gold medal with a first place time of 3:36.65.

Grady’s Charles Cassell and Justin DeLucas picked up silver medals for their performances in the high jump and 3200 meter run respectively.

Dozens of Wildcats headed for regional track meet

KLONDIKE – Klondike High School hosted the District 11A track and field meet Apr. 6.

Grady’s varsity and junior varsity girls finished second in the team standings with Klondike winning the varsity division and Dawson County taking first in the junior varsity division.

Lady Buffs clinch lead in fifth inning to defeat Merkel

STANTON - The Lady Buffs stole the lead late in the game in a 12-8 District 5AAA victory over Merkel on Tuesday in Stanton.

Stanton took an early lead when Trinity Johnson drew a walk, scoring one run.

Stanton wins first district game over Wolves

COLORADO CITY – An exciting late game rally gave the Stanton Buffaloes their first district victory of the 2018 season.

Stanton traveled to Colorado City on Thursday looking for its first district win. The Wolves would score a single run in each of the first three innings for a 3-0 lead.
