Buffaloes come up short against Clyde

CLYDE – A slow offensive, second quarter proved costly for the Stanton Buffaloes as another district game slips away with a 55-49 loss to Clyde.

The first quarter was full of action with both teams running back and forth, scoring points resulting in several ties and lead changes. By the end of the first eight minutes Clyde had a two point advantage, 15-13.

At that point something went south for Stanton as the shots stopped falling and the ball stopped bounding the Buffs way. The worst quarter of the game proved costly as the Bulldogs increased their lead to 30-21.

After Clyde crush, Buffs run into Jim Ned - ugh . . .

STANTON – Stanton’s varsity girls’ basketball team picked up its first district win of the season on Friday against Clyde but ran into a buzz saw on Tuesday and lost to Jim Ned.

Clyde rolled into Stanton last Friday night looking for an upset but a shorthanded Buffaloes team was up to the task and crushed the Bulldogs 51-35.

Stanton proved to be the better team from the tip taking a 14-9 lead after the first quarter and building a 26-17 advantage at halftime.

The second half was again all Stanton with the Buffs adding another 25 points to Clyde’s 18.

Payge Grable had an allaround awesome game for Stanton scoring a game high 24 points and leading her team with six assists, three blocks and four steals. She also had five rebounds.
