Buff junior varsity slams Roosevelt 38-12

STANTON - The Stanton junior varsity Buffaloes had an outstanding game last week against Lubbock-Roosevelt coming away with a 38-12 victory. The offensive running game was very impressive with Isaiah Reyna, Jaxson Lindell, Devan Simpson and Keegan Dahl all having strong running performances behind a dominating offensive line consisting of Rankin Kiker, Ethan Quaid, Isaiah Munoz, Chayanne Aguirre, and Luis Garcia.

Grady earns trip to regional meet

LAMESA - Grady’s varsity girls cross country team finished third in the team standings at the District 11-A cross country meet to earn a trip to regionals Oct. 29. Alyssa Lyon led the Wildcats with an eighth place time of 15:44.62.

Buffaloes take it on the chin in 35-8 loss to those Bulldogs

STANTON – The Stanton Buffaloes district opener did not go according to plan as the Coahoma Bulldogs left Buffalo Stadium with a 35-8 victory and a leg up on the competition in the race for the state playoffs. Both teams struggled through the non-district games on the schedule with the two teams combining for one victory.

Sands keeps burners wide open in 76-26 clubbing of Wildcats

.GRADY – Grady struggled to slow down the high paced Sand’s offense Friday night at M.W. Tunnel Field and lost its District 6-1 D-II opener 76-26. Grady was able to keep pace with Sands through the first quarter as both teams scored 14 points, but the Mustangs found another gear in the second quarter and stretched its lead to 36-20 by halftime.

Flores, Jimenez lead ‘Cats to seventh at Lubbock

LUBBOCK - Led by Carlos Flores and Cristian Jimenez, the Grady Wildcats finished seventh as a team Saturday at the annual Lubbock Invitational Cross Country meet in Mae Simmons Park. Flores finished 19th overall, followed by the freshman, Jimenez, in 23rd.

Westbrook stops Grady win streak at one

GRADY – The Westbrook Wildcats scored early and often to defeat the Grady Wildcats 56-28 Friday night in Westbrook. Westbrook took advantage of a slow Grady start to build a 36-14 halftime advantage. The Wildcats added to their advantage in the third quarter with another 14 points and held on for the 28 point victory.

Badgers next for Stanton’s junior varsity

CHRISTOVAL - Stanton’s Junior Varsity got skunked by the Christoval Cougars last Thursday 30-zip. Devan Simpson ran 17 times for 83 yards and Isaiah Reyna ran 22 times for 91 yards, but the Cougars were way too much for the Buffs.

Friday Night Lights shut down Buffs again

STANTON – Friday night lights is starting to take on an entirely new meaning as Mother Nature is wowing football crowds with lightning shows reminiscent of April thunderstorms. The dazzling streaks of light caused several game cancellations and numerous more delays with some schools wrapping up ball games close to midnight. Stanton was one of the unlucky few that were forced to cancel its game, but not just any game, homecoming. The entire town was excited about Friday’s annual homecoming competition but it will be written in history as neither a win nor a loss but cancelled due to weather.

Lightning shuts down Stanton-Forsan early

It was another difficult night for the Stanton Buffaloes as Forsan held serve at home beating Stanton 34-0 in a non-district contest Friday in Forsan. The game was called early in the third quarter due to lightning in the area. Despite the shortened game, Stanton managed over 100 yards of total offense with 72 coming through the air and 33 yards on the ground.

Lots of points, but Wildcats come up short

The Battle of the Wildcats was as exciting as a New Year’s firework show with both Grady’s and Water Valley’s offenses clicking on all cylinders and lighting up the scoreboard with over 140 points. Unfortunately for Grady, Water Valley had a strong defensive showing allowing for a 94-49 non-district victory. The game was neck and neck through the first quarter with Grady holding a slight 24- 22 lead. By halftime Water Valley held the slim margin at 36-30.
