Buffs, ‘Cats get ready to open grid season on Monday morning

MARTIN COUNTY – When the Texas temperatures start to reach 100 degrees that can only mean one thing: it’s the middle of summer and football practice is just around the corner. Hot, sultry days in the West Texas towns of Stanton and Grady are about the begin with the sounds of whistles blowing, kids grunting, coaches yelling and the bottom of five gallon buckets getting shallower. Water and air consumption will be the greatest at any time of the year as nearly 100 Buffalo and Wildcat football players will be gasping fora breath while trying to suck down some cold water from their knees.
