No. 11 Wildcats pick up first win of season

LENORAH — The Wildcats played the first half of Friday’s game without five of its starters but that did little to slow them down in a 66-20 victory against Lubbock Kingdom Prep as Grady bounced back from a season-opening defeat to Ira. Five of Grady’s starters were out of the first half Friday’s game against Lubbock Prep for disciplinary reasons forcing Grady coach Chris Kuykendall to use a more basic package of plays for the younger players in the first half. Once the starters returned in the second half the Wildcats offense became a little more complex.

Stanton can’t overcome mistakes, falls to Forsan 33-0

FORSAN – Turnovers and ill timed mistakes cost Stanton the ball game last Friday night at Forsan High School as the black and white Buffs rolled to a 33-0 victory. The overall competition was much closer than the final score as Stanton managed to move the ball rather easily at times including several trips inside the red zone. The problem was Stanton could not capitalize on those huge opportunities or Forsan’s mistakes.

Stanton defense comes up big in season opening win over Kermit

KERMIT – A yellow hankie fell on the 35 yard line with just over a minute remaining in the game to suck the life out of the Kermit fans and breath energy back into the visiting Stanton Buffaloes last Friday night at Walton Stadium in Kermit. Kermit had connected on a hail marry and would have had six points and a chance to tie the game but an ineligible receiver downfield negated the score and gave the Buffs a second chance.
