Grady goes to battle with 25 teams in Jayton

JAYTON - The Grady High School track and field teams traveled to Jayton on March 21 to compete in one of the biggest meets in Texas. Both the girls and boys divisions boasted 25 teams from all over the area.

Buff boys win district; girls finish second

DENVER CITY - Led by Ben Crockett, Levi Bryand and Nathan Garlington, the Stanton Buffaloes swept the district golf championship this week and are in line for a regional run later this month. Played in Denver City, the Buffs advanced with a team total 674, a whopping 26 strokes in front of second place host, Denver City.

Grady’s Lucas named to all-state team

Beau Lucas has been named to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All- State team. Lucas averaged 16 points per game this season for the Class A-DII Grady Widlcats. He helped lead the Wildcats to another district championship and the regional tournament this past season. He was the District Newcomer of the Year as a Sophomore, and was District MVP this season as a Junior

Six man coaches like trio of Wildcats

MARTIN COUNTY - Impaired drivers, high-speed chases and now a case of porn - just another week in Martin County. For the second week in a row, Martin County Sheriff’s Department officers were involved in a chase down the interstate with another messed up driver in a company truck. Last week it was Chief Deputy Ernie Wakefield who finally got a Pecos man pulled over in a company truck and basically stone out of his skull.

Annual Hoops Dreams and Goals 2014 is scheduled for March 28 in Big Spring

BIG SPRING – The 10th Annual Hoops Dreams and Goals 2014 competition is set for March 28 at the Dorothy Garrett Coliseum. “Hoops, Dreams and Goals is our highly anticipated basketball tournament involving our entire Intellectual and Developmental Disability program in Big Spring and the rural counties we serve in Texas,” said West Texas Centers CEO Shelley Smith, LMSW. Hoops, Dreams and Goals kicked off 10 years ago and has not lost any of the enthusiasm from its inaugural season, Smith said.

Stanton Buffaloes claim Big Spring YMCA championship

This past weekend the Stanton sixth grade team comprised of Cody Beasley, Peyton Barnhill, Braden Waggoner, Devan Simpson, Ethan Quaid, Jaxson Lindell, Chandler Denson, and Zachary Reyna completed six years of
participation in the Big Spring YMCA Youth Basketball league by capping off their final YMCA season with a 37-24 victory in the 2014 YMCA end of season tournament championship, defeating a very solid Duke team for the
second time.
