Grady’s K-2nd flag football team won the Super Bowl in its first season of action. Members were: Kristian Mendez; Gabriel Baeza; Martin Baeza, Cameron Grant, Jade Stone, Brandon,Boyd Cox, Caleb Cook, Hunter McAnally, Noah Ramos, Cal McMorries, Bradin Walker, Colby Cook, Niko Mendez and Collin Grant.

David Butler of Stanton recently took first place

David Butler of Stanton recently took first place at the Long Beach Open in California, competing in the master, medium heavy, blue belt division of the jiu jitsu tournament. The win moved Butler to #25 in his division out of 200 nationwide. Second place was Mark McCandless and third place was Jeremy Jackson.

Stanton goes 2-2 at El Ave Tournament in Crane

CRANE - Stanton’s varsity girls basketball team was in Crane this past week competing in the El Ave Tournament. After winning its opening round game against McCamey, Stanton dropped two straight to Big Spring and Andrews before knocking off Crane to end the tournament. The Stanton, McCamey game provided tons of offense, defense and suspense. Both teams were able to build double digit leads, score more than 20 points in a quarter and still managed to have the game come down to the final seconds.

Grady adds two wins to district tally

GAIL - Grady improved its District 6-A Division II record to 3-0 after picking up two more victories over Borden County on Friday and Klondike on Tuesday. The Wildcats breezed by Borden County 39-29. The game looked as if it would be a nail biter as Grady had just a one point lead after the first quarter but a 16 point outburst in the second quarter gave Grady a 10 point insurmountable elad.

Grady tallies pair of wins over Coahoma, Sands

GRADY - After dropping its first game of the season, Grady has rebounded for two quick wins over Coahoma and Sands. On Dec. 3 Grady needed a couple more minutes to upend Coahoma in a 54-51 overtime thriller. The Wildcats took an early lead in the first period pushing past Coahoma 12-7, but the Bulldogs answerwed back to take the lead 23-22 moving into halftime.

Grady’s slow start no cause for worry

GRADY - The Grady Wildcats have staggered out of the gates a little this season, dropping two of their first three games, but Coach Thomas Clay says he’s not panicked and neither is the team. “I’m not surprised by our slow start,” Clay said on Wednesday. “We graduated five players that were all vital to the last two teams. We got a late start because of our football success, and we have some key players missing.”

Turnovers doom Grady, put smile on Happy’s face

PETERSBURG - Three turnovers in the waning minutes helped preserve a 69-61 victory for Happy against Grady in a Six-Man Division I regional-round game on Monday afternoon at Buffalo Stadium in Petersburg. The game was pushed back from Friday evening due to the winter storm that has ravaged towns across the state of Texas.
