Christoval could be the chance to turn season around

STANTON – It hasn’t been the start the Stanton Buffaloes were hoping for as the Forsan Buffaloes handed Stanton its third loss of the young season with a 44-14 performance in Stanton last Friday.

Stanton seemed to improve this past week with its turnover and penalty struggles as the Buffs only had two turnovers and three penalties. The two areas that continue to hamper the Buffs are the offense, and not just the offensive line, picking up and maintaining blocks and the defense being able to get off blocks and continue to big play.

‘Cats look to turn things around in Rankin Friday

LENORAH – Water Valley was the better of the two Wildcat packs and managed a good road win over Grady with a 60-14 showing Friday at M.W. Tunnell Field in Grady.

Grady was able to handle eve rything Water Valley had to offer except for running back Jeremy Jackson. Grady racked up tackles for loss, defended passes, recovered fumbles and even recorded a safety, but when Water Valley needed a first down or score, the coaching staff called on #20 and he delivered with several long runs and multiple touchdowns.

Buffs scrimmage Lamesa in final tune-up

STANTON – The contagious effects of enthusiasm and excitement overflowed from the players on the field and invigorated the fans in the stands as the Stanton Buffaloes meet the Lames Golden Tornadoes for the second scrimmage of the season at Buffalo Stadium in Stanton last Thursday evening.

Both teams looked well prepared for the scrimmage as both managed spectacular plays on offense and defense. The Buffs first string and second string found the endzone once apiece and while Lamesa moved the ball well at times, was not able to break the plane during their series’ of plays.

Once the live quarter took over, Stanton seemed jittery and didn’t execute as well on either offense or defense allowing Lamesa to bust a play open for the only score of the period.
