Now the University Interscholastic League has cut a deal with Fox Sports Southwest for the return of Texas Football Days announced during a press conference at the Texas High School Coaches Association’s annual Coaching School and Convention in San Antonio.

Pirates hope to rise above last season’s 2-8 record

The time for Pirate football is once again upon us, but this season fans will once again see a new man in charge of their Pirates in the form of former Pirate Brandon James, who took over the position after former Head Coach, Julian Keggins, decided not to return for a third season in Chilton. With a combined total of seven wins and thirteen losses, Keggins decided it was time to pass the reins, that proudly got picked up by Coach James, who was the girls athletic coordinator previous to this year. With Coach James taking over as the man in charge, there is a renewed sense of hope for the Pirates, following last season’s tragic ending in which the Pirates finished with a two and eight finish.

Public schools wipe out private ones in Texas Bowl

STANTON – Stanton High School’s Buffalo Stadium played host to the 2018 Don Hardin Texas Bowl last Saturday when teams of the best public school and private school six-man athletes put on a dazzling display of elite football that ended with Stanton Coach Jerry Burkhart and his public squad winning 36-8 over Coach Chris Chacon of Austin and the private team.

Hardin, who died in 2013, was a huge six man fan.

The all-star contest began with the public team’s Miguel Mata of Happy sending the kickoff out the back of the endzone to set the tone of domination early. Burkhart’s public team defense was outstanding the first half, not giving up any big plays and only a few first downs.
