Grady sub varsity teams top tournaments

GRADY – Grady’s sub varsity girls basketball teams were unstoppable this past week with both teams winning their respective tournaments in Garden City and Forsan.

The junior high black team won the Garden City tournament with wins over Garden City and Midland Classical.

Grady’s offense was on fire against Garden City winning 43- 10.

Sydney Gonzales and Mercedes Jimenez were the top scorers with 13 points each and Jessi Everett added 10 for Grady.

Ashley Hill contributed five points and Ashlyn Peugh pitched in with two in Grady’s victory.

The Stanton varsity boys are the champions of the Reagan County Basketball tournament. Escamilla and Ulmer were selected all-tournament and Snellgrove was named Most Valuable Player.

Taylor, Gonzales, Dunn light up the Wolves

COLORADO CITY - Stanton’s Natalie Taylor was on fire in junior high action against Colorado City last week, hitting a dozen as the Buffs downed the Wolves 38-19.

Analiese Gonzales followed with nine and Emma Dunn had seven points. Sarah Denson and Mariah Brooks both added four.

Wildcats improve season mark to 8-4

WATER VALLEY – The Grady Wildcats continue to win, improving to 8-4 on the season after defeating Ira and Water Valley last week.

Ira was a hard fought battle from start to finish. The Bulldogs took and early 15-10 lead but Grady managed to rally for a 20- 20 halftime score.

Junior high Stanton girls well into season

STANTON – The Stanton junior high girls’ basketball seasons are well under way after playing games against Colorado City, Merkel, Clyde and Jim Ned.

Stanton hosted the Colorado City Wolves on Nov. 6.

The seventh grade A team lost 14-4 with Rylee Murray scoring the Buffs four points.

Buffaloes plow up the field in Meadow

MEADOW – The Stanton Buffaloes are starting to find their rhythm with three straight wins and a Meadow Tournament championship.

Stanton opened the tournament with a 76-65 win over Lorenzo.

Leading scorer for Stanton was Sebastian Escamilla with 24 points. Wes Ulmer, Reagan Nichols and Blake Snellgrove finished in double figures with 12, 11 and 10 points respectively and Colby Rachard finished with nine points.
