Roy D. Cooper

LAMESA - Roy D. Cooper died Dec. 3, 2016, in Lamesa at the age of 84. He was born to George and Willie Cooper on July 8, 1932.

He was raised in the Munger area and later farmed there for many years. His passion was flying airplanes and helicopters.

He is survived by his children Judy Garcia and husband Richard, Roy Wayne Cooper and wife Sharla, Carmen Furlow and husband Mark, and Dan Cooper and wife Layne, all of Lamesa; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters Peggy Mayo of New Deal, Norma Clement of Lamesa and Patsy Jones of Grand Prairie. He also is survived by his longtime companion Rinda Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Bobby Johnson and Wonnell Aldridge; and a brother Billy Wayne Cooper.

At Roy’s request, his body will be donated to Texas Tech Health Science Center.
