Area gins closing in on 250,000 bales

WEST TEXAS - Gin trucks are running day and night as more modules are stacked up on area gin yards.

And with more cotton comes higher bales number as area gins are poised to break the 250,000 bale barrier today.

As of Wednesday, the number stood just a few thousand shy of the mark.

Stanton bumped its total to 8,691 bales for the season while Big Spring crushed the 10,000 mark with 11,800.

Midkiff is reporting 39,362 bales while at Tarzan the total climbed to 21,845 bales this week and at St. Lawrence 82,720 bales were counted.

Over at Ackerly the total as of mid-week was 26,429 bales and Lomax reported an even 27,400 bales.

Flower Grove has ginned 19,466 bales and Knott has racked up 12,059 bales.
