Lady Buffs start district 0-2

STANTON – Stanton’s varsity girls struggled with their first week of district basketball action losing two games to Anson and Colorado City.

On Dec. 17, Anson jumped on Stanton early and never looked back winning 60-22.

Hailea Vera Cruz led the Lady Buffs with seven points and Amelia Bratcher and Mariah Brooks had four points each.

Analiese Gonzales tossed in three points and Gabby Rodriguez and Sarah Denson tallied two points each.

Then on Dec. 20, Colorado City was another rough game with the Wolves winning 57-20.

Rodriguez was high point for Stanton with nine points and Ariel Ramos added three.

Kayleigh Villa, Brooks, Victoria Alvizo, and Zoey Ruiz scored two points apiece.

Stanton will be back in action on Friday at Merkel and will be home next Tuesday against Clyde. Both games are scheduled to tip-off at 6:30 p.m.
