GRADY – The Grady junior varsity basketball team had two challenging games in the previous weeks and was able to win one while falling in the other.

On Jan. 17, the Wildcats battled Borden County. The Coyotes proved to be too much that night and walk away with a 46-24 victory.

Quint Harrell and Cobe Cortez led the scoring charge for Grady with eight points each. Austin Snider and Colt Carson finished with four points each.

A few days later on Jan. 21, Grady hosted Garden City. The Wildcats started slow and fell behind 7-3 and only managed to slightly chip the lead by halftime to 10-7.

Grady finally found its offense in the second half and outscored the Bearkats 19-8 to slam the door on a 26-18 win.

“This was the junior varsity boys first win of the season. This young group has come a long way since the start of the year,” said Grady coach Chris Short. “I’m very proud of their hard work and effort. Our big second half was the difference of the game.”

Harrell finished with a season high 17 points to lead all scorers. Austin Aaron finished with five points followed by Snider and Carson with two points each.
