Ella Denice Scurlark

MIDLAND - Ella Denice Scurlark, 60 of Midland, was the seventh of 15 children; born on Oct. 12, 1957, in Stanton to Eddie B. Scurlark and the late Warren Clyde Scurlark. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior with St. James Baptist Church in Stanton. She was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church and attended school in Stanton, graduating from Stanton High School in 1975. She had a beautiful smile, and was always very supportive and helpful to her mother, siblings, and her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed planning for family functions and her favorite pastime was decorating and watching HGTV. She was employed with various oil companies throughout the years. She also loved working with the youth and was employed with St. Luke’s as a part-time teacher on Sundays and with the Midland YMCA in the daycare center. She died Dec 1, 2017, after a gradual decline in health at Midland Memorial Hospital. She was surrounded and supported by her mother, siblings, nieces and nephews, and other friends during her last days. Her family will miss her beautiful smile. She is preceded in death by her father, Warren C. Scurlark and by her four older brothers, Lawrence Scurlark, Roy Scurlock, Jessie Scurlark, and Willie Scurlark. She is survived by her mother, Eddie B. Scurlark of Stanton; three brothers Warren Clyde Scurlark Jr. of Stanton, Michael Scurlark of Midland, and Steve Scurlark (Naomi) of Big Spring; seven sisters, Clytia Miles (Earl) of Baytown, Ola Scurlark, Diann Scurlark, Catherine Scurlark, all of Houston, Carolyn Scurlark, Melissa Scurlark and Helen McCoy (Anthony) all of Midland, and by nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives. Viewing will be from 8 am to 9 pm, Dec. 8, 2017,at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Dec. 9, at 11am at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1800 Carver in Midland. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton. Pallbearers will be Anthony McCoy, Aaron Scurlark, Josh Traylor, Courtney Scurlark, Trevor Scurlark, and Avery Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Teluin Scurlark, Austin Scurlark, Donovan Polk, and Greg Scurlark. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
