WEST TEXAS - After some of the hottest weather on record, summer decided to pack its bags in the middle of the night and ran out of town allowing record low temperatures to surprise everyone in West Texas.
July had the second longest streak of days over 105 degrees and also recorded the sixth hottest day ever recorded in Texas at 111 degrees.
July averaged out to the second hottest July ever and the longest streak in Texas history of consecutive days over 90 degree just ended on Sept. 3.
Then in the blink of an eye, 2020 sets another record for coldest Sept. 9 at 47 degrees.
What's the temperature in Anchorage, Alaska? It's pretty cold, but it's currently warmer than West Texas. Wednesday afternoon, Anchorage was 58 degrees.
How cold is it in Iceland? Reykjavik, Iceland will be 52 degrees today with a low of 46.
So it seems the high heat is hiding out in Oregon. Photos snapped Wednesday morning, 270 miles south of Portland, showed temperatures of 100 degrees in Medford.
On the flip side, there are some people who are jealous of our 47 degree temperatures. Wednesday afternoon it was about 8 degrees at Burgess Junction, Wyoming.
Luckily the cold weather will not be hanging around. Friday is expected to climb back into the 70’s and the weekend will boast mid 80’s.
